  • Welcome to our Blog

We are Sam and Heidi Simanjuntak, a husband and wife fine art photography team based in Hawaii. We love to travel and are always happy to join you even if you're across the globe. Sam is originally from Indonesia and Heidi from Washington State. We met in 2003 on the Big Island of Hawaii and tied the knot in 2005. We love marriage and flat out LOVE people.

We are firm believers that God created this world and people to be beautiful. There is such joy in photographing the uniqueness of individuals and all that surrounds.

As artists, we aim to capture the true essence of people not only in those candid moments but also by creating those moments. We are constantly looking for inspiration to stretch our creativity to new heights. So, whether you are a bride & groom, a family or individual, it's a privilege to be the one behind the camera capturing YOU!

Bradley Family: sneak peek

I had such a great time with the Bradley family. It was one of those shoots that left me thinking, ‘I wish it could have lasted longer’. I love their style and down to earth personalities. They have been visiting the Big Island for years and I’m happy I got to meet them this time around! Enjoy a little sneak peek of our shoot and check back to see more from our day in downtown Kona.

Mr. Liam

This is our youngest son Liam. He is 7 months old and is learning how to crawl. He quickly grabs for anything in arms reach and is determined to get what his eyes are set on. His demeanor is mellow with ‘busy’ like qualities.  We love his curiosity and serious looks (he gets the nickname ‘Mr. Liam’ because of it). He is an observant type of fellow and joyful to be around. His laughter is contagious and his sweet smile will melt your heart. Oh, and to the ladies…he’s not available yet!

Left foot. Right foot. Feet. Feet. Feet.

This is our oldest son Owen. He’s 2.5 years old and one of his favorite things to play with are the little toys in the basket. He says in his deepest voice possible, “Whoa mom heavy basket of toys” as he carried it out to the deck. We later enjoyed hours of play and photo taking! Oh, and as for the feet part, well…just see for yourself.

This is Owen’s depiction of my facial expressions. Apparently, this is what I look like when taking photos.
